VOCATION

Contributing to the decarbonisation of energy use

by accelerating the production of low-carbon batteries in Europe

Faced with the scale of climate challenges and issues of sovereignty, Verkor was founded with the aim to make Europe a key player in the production of low-carbon batteries.

In 2020, against the backdrop of extraordinary circumstances – a global health crisis coupled with a growing realisation that profound change was needed – six change-makers from different backgrounds came together to found Verkor.

Our mission? To produce low-carbon batteries for automotive applications, other mobility and stationary storage.

Three key pillars

01 Innovation driving efficient, smart and sustainable production

The integration of digital solutions, underpinned by a ‘Digital by Design’ approach, enhances the efficiency of our production processes.

02 Talent as a driver of growth

our team brings together international leaders and experts from the sector

03 A robust ecosystem of leading partners

We work alongside major industrial, technological and institutional players to secure and accelerate the development of a strategic sector.

Two sites, one strategy

Combining innovation with large-scale industrialisation

The Verkor Innovation Centre – Grenoble

Verkor’s first site and head office, the VIC has been operational since 2023.

Innovation

This is its primary function: to develop products – cells and modules – that will form the core of tomorrow’s low-carbon batteries, and to conduct full-scale testing of innovative digital manufacturing processes.

Production

A smaller-scale replica of the Gigafactory, the VIC has a production capacity of 100 to 150 MWh for manufacturing Verkor battery cells.

Training

To train a new generation of experts in the battery sector by providing them with the resources and facilities of an advanced research laboratory.

The Verkor Gigafactory - Dunkerque

The first Verkor Gigafactory, which was inaugurated in December 2025, is currently in the industrial ramp-up phase, with production scheduled to start in autumn 2026.

Operational excellence scaled up to an industrial level: a highly efficient Gigafactory, made possible by advanced data architecture and high-level industrial digitalisation.

What next?

The Gigafactory marks the beginning of Verkor’s story. After 2030, Verkor’s annual production capacity could reach 50 GWh. New facilities will underpin a long-term development strategy, with the support of industrial and institutional partners in France and across Europe.

Verkor Batteries

Verkor designs and manufactures low-carbon lithium-ion battery cells and modules to meet the specific requirements of our partners.

A diverse range of cells, designed to meet a variety of mobility needs, from passenger and commercial vehicles to off-road vehicles and stationary storage systems.
