This strategic<\/span><span>\u00a0investment in Verkor <\/span><span>is in line<\/span><span>\u00a0with the South African multinational\u2019s objective <\/span><span>to foster innovation and <\/span><span>market development for <\/span><span>its <\/span><span>products <\/span><span>through strategic partnerships<\/span><span>, which are aligned with <\/span><span>its strategy <\/span><span>and intent to build a climate change resistant organisation which is a <\/span><span>\u201c<\/span><em>Force for Good<\/em><span>\u201d<\/span><span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<em>We are not only building a Gigafactory in Dunkirk, but we also need to <\/em><\/span><em>ensure that the surrounding ecosystem is <\/em><span><em>in place for sustainable supply and treatment of raw materials<\/em>,\u201d explains Verkor CEO Benoit Lemaignan<\/span><span>. \u201c<em>This <\/em><\/span><em>includes identifying and preparing work with partners that will be able to deliver on our goals of sustainable, low-carbon electric vehicle batteries.Verkor is committed to working with partners to ensure sourcing and recovery of raw materials is optimized to ensure our batteries are as low-<\/em><span><em>carbon and low impact as possible<\/em>.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Sibanye<\/span><span>&#8211;<\/span><span>Stillwater Chief Execut<\/span><span>ive Officer Neal Froneman commented \u201c<em>This partnership with Verkor is a critical <\/em><\/span><em>step in our continued investment in the European battery materials supply chain and expands our exposure down the value chain with a leading and widely supported gigafactory project. The Verkor partnership complements our existing investments in the Keliber lithium project in Finland and the Sandouville hydro-metallurgical nickel processing facility in France, which are well placed to provide battery grade lithium-hydroxide and nickel products <\/em><span><em>to the European market.<\/em>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Verkor Gigafactory in Dunkirk will create a new ecosystem of players and<\/span><span> solutions to support the<\/span><span>\u00a0development <\/span><span>of <\/span><span>Europe\u2019s battery value chain.
