Such a module will have to meet the technical and economic requirements needed to manufacture a large series of automobiles.<\/p>\n<p>With a total budget of almost 4.1 M\u20ac, Verkor, and its partners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saint-Gobain Research Paris<\/strong>, project leader and R&amp;D center of Groupe Saint-Gobain, expert in the development of innovative processes, products and solutions for the sustainable construction, industry, and mobility markets<\/li>\n<li><strong>ENERSENS<\/strong>, an expert in the field of development, synthesis and manufacture of silica aerogels, the most thermally insulating solid materials available in the market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>LEMTA<\/strong>, a national laboratory specializing in the field of thermal management of systems and the characterization of thermal properties at high temperatures, among other things<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>aim to address the following key issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Next-generation materials offering unrivalled technical and economic characteristics (fire resistance, thermal and mechanical properties, cost)<\/li>\n<li>A new battery module design based on Verkor&#8217;s pouch cells,<\/li>\n<li>Early detection solutions for thermal runaway,<\/li>\n<li>Capabilities and skills in battery testing and modelling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This 3-years project is funded by the French state, in the framework of France 2023 program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since October 2023 &#8211; Verkor has joined a consortium of 3 major French players to develop a new economical and lightweight battery module, guaranteeing total module safety in case of a thermal runaway situation.
